Apr\u00e8s les costumes flamboyants d’Elvis, Austin Butler rev\u00eat le cuir patin\u00e9 d’un motard rebelle et taciturne sous la direction de Jeff Nichols.<\/i><\/p>

The Bikeriders, c’est une immersion dans l’Am\u00e9rique des ann\u00e9es 60 en compagnie d’un club de bikers de Chicago. Rassemblement d’outsiders au d\u00e9part, le groupe bascule dans la violence…<\/i><\/p>

Une clique bien d\u00e9peinte, un parti pris int\u00e9ressant, mais une histoire qui ne nous embarque pas aussi loin qu’on l’aurait voulu.<\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Le mat\u00e9riel de d\u00e9part du film, c\u2019est le livre <\/b>The Bikeriders<\/i><\/b> de Danny Lyon<\/b>. Un recueil de photos et d\u2019interviews r\u00e9alis\u00e9es au sein des Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club entre 1963 et 1967 par le photographe.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Jeff Nichols (Mud, Take Shelter<\/i>) s’attache plus \u00e0 l’aspect humain d’une bande de marginaux <\/b>qu’\u00e0 leur r\u00e9putation badass. On ne tremble pas devant des ca\u00efds, on apprend plut\u00f4t \u00e0 les conna\u00eetre.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

L’histoire est racont\u00e9e \u00e0 travers une narratrice<\/b>, Kathy (Jodie Comer), l\u00e9g\u00e8rement en marge du groupe. Un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 qui cr\u00e9e une distance et donne de la profondeur \u00e0 ce qui pourrait \u00eatre un simple film de baston et de motos. Son regard apporte un second degr\u00e9<\/b>, notamment sur la violence et les rivalit\u00e9s au sein du club.<\/b><\/p>

Le ton est rafra\u00eechissant et l’ambiance r\u00e9ussie. Mais les th\u00e8mes install\u00e9s (la qu\u00eate d’identit\u00e9, la fraternit\u00e9, le groupe…) sont malheureusement trop peu explor\u00e9s. L’histoire nous laisse avec un sentiment d’inachev\u00e9<\/b>, l\u2019impression d’\u00eatre pass\u00e9s \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l’essentiel.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jodie Comer, Austin Butler et Tom Hardy : un trio in\u00e9gal<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Kathy, la narratrice, \u00e9pouse Benny, membre d’un club de motards dirig\u00e9 par Johnny. Vous avez l\u00e0 les 3 personnages principaux<\/b> du film The Bikeriders<\/i>.<\/p>

Benny est un homme de peu de mots, solitaire et enclin \u00e0 la violence<\/b>. Tandis que Kathy r\u00eave de construire une vie raisonnable \u00e0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s, Johnny, le voit \u00e0 la t\u00eate du groupe<\/b> pour le remplacer.<\/p>

Jodie Comer<\/b> (Killing Eve, The White Princess<\/i>) compose un personnage attachant, singulier et bien ancr\u00e9. Tandis que Tom Hardy<\/b> (The Revenant, Mad Max : Fury Road<\/i>) insuffle de la nuance et du charisme au leader vieillissant du groupe.<\/b><\/p>

Deux personnages tr\u00e8s concrets, tr\u00e8s bien interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s, qui se disputent un Austin Butler<\/b> (Elvis, Dune 2<\/i>) d\u00e9cevant. Benny n’a que peu de dialogues et son trait distinctif<\/b> est d’\u00eatre insaisissable. Pas \u00e9vident \u00e0 jouer donc… Malheureusement, son personnage ne g\u00e9n\u00e8re pas la fascination voulue.<\/p>

Son rapport avec les autres<\/b> est difficile \u00e0 appr\u00e9hender ce qui, malheureusement, nuit \u00e0 l’histoire. Son \u00e9criture n’appara\u00eet pas assez \u00e9toff\u00e9e pour la place qu’il prend dans le r\u00e9cit.\u00a0<\/p>

Par contre, certains seconds r\u00f4les<\/b> s’av\u00e8rent marquants, comme celui de Zipco, incarn\u00e9 par Michael Shannon,<\/b> ou encore Funny Sonny (Norman Reedus).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Bikeriders : une esth\u00e9tique dans la marge, qui tient bien la route<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Voil\u00e0 un film qui sent la bi\u00e8re, la clope et la crasse. On ne cherche pas \u00e0 nous s\u00e9duire en injectant du glamour dans l’univers des bikers<\/b> et c’est tant mieux !\u00a0<\/p>

Pas d’\u00e9pop\u00e9es sensationnelles \u00e0 moto dans des d\u00e9cors grandioses, non. Jeff Nichols opte pour le r\u00e9alisme et l\u2019authenticit\u00e9<\/b>. Ce qui ne nous emp\u00eache pas d’appr\u00e9cier la belle lumi\u00e8re du Midwest.<\/p>

Pour les costumes, l’\u00e9quipe s’est aussi appuy\u00e9e sur les photos de Danny Lyon. Cuirs, denim, toiles et bijoux<\/b> composent le vestiaire des motards (par ailleurs tr\u00e8s enclins au layering).\u00a0<\/p>

Les tenues marquent l’appartenance \u00e0 un groupe<\/b> et se d\u00e9clinent selon les personnalit\u00e9s et le degr\u00e9 de marginalit\u00e9. Barbes et tignasses hirsutes<\/b> pour certains, cheveux plaqu\u00e9s \u00e0 la gomina pour d’autres\u2026\u00a0<\/p>

Les v\u00eatements vieillis<\/b> traduisent bien le mode de vie des bikers. Les \u00e9cussons sont cousus \u00e0 la main sur des blousons customis\u00e9s<\/b>. Les costumes racontent une histoire collective<\/b> et personnelle \u00e0 la fois et c\u2019est tr\u00e8s bien rendu.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
